These boys are victims of stereotyping. I think it's true to a certain extent that people who are more studious (note that studious does not equal intelligent!) care less about (and have less time for) their physical appearances, but it doesn't apply exclusively to girls! I've lost count of geeks I've seen...both male and female, and I never thought that female geeks are extra ugly or anything like that. In fact, based on the population in JSHS, I'm tempted to say it's actually quite the opposite but then this would just spark another debate so I'd better not.

i agree with you that the 1st in class not necessary is the intelligent one, and the smart one might not be the 1st in class...
